There's a local takeaway place I go to irregularly, more often in winter than summer. Because I (still) use Quicken for managing finance it only took a couple of clicks to see over the last decade it's on average monthly, sometimes a couple of times a
The (home) office receptionist likes the Mercer Bay Loop, rare to have no wind. The track has been 'civilised', in part to control kauri dieback, and my 'secret' favourite view spot has been landscaped. It used to be a largely un-noticed cut through the bush off
Waitakere
I was walking Alfie in the Waitakere Ranges yesterday and an incident made me wonder. I often walk and cycle alone so always carry a phone, emergency contact numbers on a card, and my drivers license as ID. Rather grim perhaps, but that last one identifies me as an organ
Traffic Light Thoughts
An attempt to video one of my favourite Waitakere Ranges descents was somewhat curtailed by catching up to a Fun Cargo. Thanks to @FallenRedNinja‘s tweet, seen earlier in the week, I had an earworm for the rest of the ride! Dear twitter, I am far too pleased with myself

Took Alf for a 7.5km (return) walk along Muriwai beach this afternoon. Managed to avoid the rain, met a few dogs for him to play with and wore one out which was the goal! Tried out the slow motion video on my phone, not exactly Baywatch… I think he
There aren't many places in Auckland where you can still buy orchard fresh fruit — grown, picked and sold at the gate — but Dragicevich Orchard, Oratia near my home, is one. Along with freshly picked apples, pears, plums and grapes Karmela Dragicevich and her son Mate sell the best
Waitakere
Evening walk on the Mercer Bay loop. Out near Piha, turn left at the top of the hill. Awesome sheer cliffs with Tasman Ocean views. Alfie’s sometimes scared of heights but it didn’t worry him here*. * Although it looks a bit precarious that's not quite the
