You are what you Eat, Tweet, McKeith

Cute product in the market

I had a day bookended by articles about Gillian McKeith, the infamous creator of the You Are What You Eat series.

This morning a tweet from Ben Goldacre led me to his wonderful article from 2007

Since Gillian McKeith has unwisely said my book is "lies" on Twitter: here's a reminder of my concerns about her work http://dlvr.it/2bSFr

I had seen a couple of episodes of her series but didn’t know much of the history. Ben’s article highlighted many concerns regarding this “Media Medic”:

What’s wrong with Dr Gillian McKeith PhD? – Bad Science

“For years, ‘Dr’ Gillian McKeith has used her title to sell TV shows, diet books and herbal sex pills. Now the Advertising Standards Authority has stepped in. Yet the real problem is not what she calls herself, but the mumbo-jumbo she dresses up as scientific fact, says Ben Goldacre…”

Then tonight I spied this via the johnniemoore.com feed about the Twitter celebrity aspect:

Both articles are well worth a read
