Traffic Light Thought – Passed by a 2CV Bamboo!?

Although I’ve never owner, even driven, a 2CV it is on my “Cars to buy when I win Lotto” list.

Although a few were imported they aren’t exactly common and I’ve never seen a 2CV Bamboo until this one passed me on the motorway.

Most the imports were the ‘flash’ (yeah I know, in relative terms) Charleston model back in the 1980s when yuppies could afford them. From what I remember they weren’t exactly cheap but certainly were distinctive.

I used to work with someone who had a beautifully restored 1940s era 2CV. The elegant simplicity of the of that basic 2CV was a delight. I also remember a late, great, LJK Setright article which rated the 2CV engine as one of the best ever made. This was as much for what it omitted as for what was there!

A 2CV Bamboo, rare in New Zealand

I must add that it overtook the Flying Spaghetti Machine as I headed for an off-ramp, not racing!
