Drive/Cycling Exploring Northland, Napier Wairarapa, New Zealand | Time Out 2025

I've taken an extended summer break to fill some gaps in my New Zealand cycling and visit a couple of places I have yet to see.

Apart from working a couple of Mondays (6 & 13 Jan) I'm off work (but on call) until Feb 9, the end of Waitangi Weekend.

Current plans are:

Auckland region until 6 Jan

Northland - Whangarei Coast (Head to Whananaki) 7-12 Jan

Tutukaka to Whananaki

Tutukaka to Pataua North/South

Onerahi to Whangarei Heads (Smugglers Bay)

Napier Trails, Wairarapa to Cape Palliser (gravel day rides)

New Plymouth Explore

'Mountains to Sea' Trails (Ohakune-Whanganui)
