The Word [on] User Interface

Jensen Harris: An Office User Interface Blog has a series going on the history of the Microsoft Word user interface. The ultimate goal is to explain the reasoning behind the changes coming in the Office 12 U.I. but it’s also an interesting look back at a package many, well me at least, use everyday.

If you are thinking a similar thing would be interesting for AutoCAD have a look at Shaan’s “Unofficial AutoCAD History Pages”. There is even an image of “AutoCAD 2.18, 9, 12, 14 and 2002 running at the same time, editing the very same nozzle.dwg file from AutoCAD version 2.18 samples dated April 05, 1985 by Don Strimbu.”

As Shaan says “It is amazing how far AutoCAD has came in 20 years”. Unlike Office, there’s no hint yet of what’s next for the AutoCAD U.I.
