Reset IE so it asks to save or open downloads

Have you ever un-ticked the “Always ask before opening this type of file” setting by mistake when down-loading a file? You then don't get the choice which is often annoying.

This is how to reset that setting so Internet Explorer asks the question again;

  • Open Windows Explorer (not I.E.)
  • Go to Tools > Folder Options > File Types
  • Find the File Extension for the File Type want to change & select it
  • Click on the Advanced button
  • Tick Confirm after download
