Internet Explorer 9 Pinned Sites know their home

This may be from the Department of obvious but just in case I’m the only one who hasn’t noticed… IE9 allows you to drag a site URL to the taskbar creating an pinned icon (right). Clicking that launches IE with open at URL while right click will give a variety of options depending on the site. When opening pinned sites IE9 mirrors the website theme by re-colouring its forward back buttons (based, it seems, on the favicon colour) and adds a “Home to Pinned” button which takes you back to the pinned URL. I should have walked…

While using another machine, via remote desktop, to publish & print I noticed a small edit was required. It involved applying a space style to a polyline (in an old floor plan) and that didn’t go so well. The same conversion on the actual machine worked fine. Read more →

CAD’llusions & memories of #TAMOz

I was reminded of Dr Rob Morrison’s "Skeptical Illusions" presentation at TAMOz while working yesterday. He demonstrated how visual perception is the result of biological systems, experience, expectations, even culture. In short, what you “see” isn’t necessarily what you are looking at. While adding areas to a model I saw (below) a plan view of 3D fittings being slightly “broken” where they transitioned to magenta space fill.
