This is neat. Watch the 2005 Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race in Google Earth, with yacht positions and standings updated every ten minutes. Great way to track the race as Kiwi supermaxi’s Alfa Romeo and Konica Minolta battle for line honours.
Getting it working
If not installed already, download and install Google Earth
Open the race feed file: cyca_rshyr_yachtrace.kmlGoogle Earth is a 3D interface to the planet. It combines satellite imagery with a model that can be zoomed, spun and tilted. The Google Earth feed is for private, non-commercial use only.
