"Dilbert's Ultimate House (DUH)" has some great ideas (seriously, read the spec's) and the CAD images and tours are nicely done. Its well worth a look and some of the less serious suggestions are funny.
This was my favourite: "Solar panels to power electric fans. These fans will power wind powered generators on non-windy days. The wind turbines will power klieg lights to recharge batteries attached to the solar panels on windy nights."
Raj Raheja, of Heartwood Studios, did the "Virtual construction" using AutoCAD & 3D Studio Max 5.1 & 6 and said "It was a lot of fun!". Their impressive company website also well worth a look if you are interested in CAD/Visualization.
