I thought the 'velominati' was a funny parody of cycling snobbery, then found some take it seriously as 'rules'.
I mostly ride solo, in cycle kit but go out of my way to find non-sponsor branded team stuff. The thing that really gets me, and I don't (yet) want or own an e-bike, is the bidirectional rubbish that goes on with them. Some bike riders regard e-bikes as 'cheating', some e-bike riders think they are superior 'it's so much better'. I just think if they get more people out there, or let them ride longer, it is all good.
A recent experience showed how it should be. I had taken my folding bike to work, which means mostly train and only about 5km each way riding but had to go home a different way far from the train lines. It also meant was riding in work clothes, albeit shorts/short sleeve shirt, and running shoes with a satchel type computer bag on the front rack mount.
Mid-ride I was on a bike path in a semi-rural area and small group of 'matching high-end bike, matching kit' riders caught and passed me. As they went past one said 'how far?' and when I replied '30km so far, 25 to go' and the response was "That's' awesome!' :)
