Big Car recently released his comprehensive video on the history of the Lancia Delta and I was happy to give a small hand to the production. As a Patreon supporter, I saw an early cut of it and recognised some concept design images he'd used.
Back in the 80s, when I was studying Product Design (at what is now Unitec) I used to cycle around the car dealers in Great North Rd and Newmarket to see the new cars (and still do!).
When the Delta arrived in their showroom Continental Cars had some books (more than a brochure) about the design evolution. It was a glimpse into the mind of legendary designer Giorgetto Giugiaro and I cheekily asked if could have a copy.
I commented on Patreon how it was great to see the images again, mentioned still had the book, and he asked if I could scan higher resolution images than the web sourced ones he had. That's how parts of a ~40-year-old Italian book from New Zealand ended up on YouTube!
The Delta Forza History covers all the generations of Delta, including the electric rallycross revival and Stellantis' plans to relaunch a new electric Delta.
PS: There are quite a few, given our population and location, Delta in NZ including the rare S4 (centre below) and even an incredibly rare Hyena (far right below) mentioned in the video.
