There's a local takeaway place I go to irregularly, more often in winter than summer. Because I (still) use Quicken for managing finance it only took a couple of clicks to see over the last decade it's on average monthly, sometimes a couple of times a month in winter but with gaps of several months in summer. Run by a couple, open long hours seven days, the food is always good. The only reason for sporadic visits is I don't frequently eat what they offer, but what they do, they do very well.
Last week I went in and was served by the woman, as I was leaving her partner came dashing out of the back room (where he was having a break) looking a bit flustered. He grabbed some cash out of the till (I'd paid by EFTPOS) and thrust a few dollars in my hand saying, "I overcharged you last time!". I was a bit baffled by this, as 'last time' was over a month prior, but he refused to take it back.
Back at home I had a look and had indeed been 'overcharged'. I hadn't noticed and would have thought, at a couple of dollars per meal, it was just an incremental price rise as was several months since my last visit. Kudos to West Roast Takeaways, great food, great service, and an amazing memory given how many people they must see over a month!
