A tweet from @noozeeland today inspired this post. He shared a phrase which commanded only one response. I know the lyrics to Comfortably Numb quite well as I love the song itself, but also for another rather odd reason.
When I’m cycling and feeling really tired it’s one song that often gets stuck in my mental playlist. “Comfortably Numb” is an admirable compromise to aim for when all sorts of bits ache but you still haven’t finished the ride!
I change the lyrics a bit to so here is my “PsychPod” version, adjusted for cycling, presented with due apologies to Mr Waters & Gilmore…
Hello, hello, hello Is there anybody in there? Just nod if you can hear me. Is there anyone at home?

Come on, come on down, I hear you’re feeling down. Well I can ease your pain, Get you on your feet the go again.
|
Relax, relax, relax I need some information first. Just the basic facts. Can you show me where it hurts?

There is no pain, you are receding. A distant ship's smoke distant hill slopes on to the horizon. You are only The pain is coming through in waves. Your lips move My thighs ache, but I can’t won’t hear what you’re they’re saying..

When I was a child, I had a fever three wheeler. My hands feet felt flayed like two balloons a buffoon’s. Now I’ve got that feeling once again. I can’t explain, you would not understand. This is not how I am.

I have will become comfortably numb. [mental guitar solo] I have will become comfortably numb.

OK, OK, OK Just a little pin prick bottle sip. There’ll be no more, aaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh, But you may feel a little sick.
|
Can you stand up, stand up, stand up on the pedals. I do believe it's working good. That’ll keep you going for the show up the road. Come on, it’s time to go.

When I was a child, I caught a fleeting glimpse Out of the corner of my eye. I turned to look, but it the hill was is gone. I cannot put my finger on it now. The child has grown, the dream pain is gone.
