My GPS once said I'd exceeded 800 km/h on a downhill run. It seemed quite fast but then I read up about GPS reception errors and the lack of complaints about sonic booms led me to discount it.
So, the fastest I've ever been on a bicycle without slip streaming is 79.3 km/h (49.3 MPH). That was achieved with the help of a very steep, think San Francisco steep, hill in Oamaru.
That's somewhat slower than Sam managed and he did it on the flat, amazing!
