Outlook 2007 Mail Editor not creating Hyperlinks?

Tonight I found, even when set to HTML format messages, my Outlook 2007 Mail Editor wasn’t making pasted links into clickable hyperlinks. They pasted ok but were not auto-formatted into a link. It was a pain as I like to check the link works before sending.

The solution is rather simple, if buried, as it’s done by the Auto-format feature. It can be enabled from Tools, a seven step process, or the Office Button > Options > Proofing on the Editor. I wonder why a default install had autocorrect disabled?

* Although the Email editor is, sort of, Word these options are independent of Word.
