Mahia, marvellous!

After a night at Ahi Kaa Motel, a lovely breakfast at the “Flagship Café” it was time for a quick look around Gisborne then home via Taupo.

Having been to the US Space port (Cape Kennedy) I think Rocket Labs new one on the Mahia Peninsular has much more attractive scenery! I didn’t get close to the launch facility but the drive out there is worth the diversion.

From warm sunny Gisborne/Mahia it was on to freezing cold Taupo. The temperature dropped from about 20ºc to 3 according to the car temp reading! Not far off snow by the feel of it once this front rolled in.
