Will switching off your connected existence for a day change the world? I doubt it but that doesn’t mean it’s not worth trying. However, I’m not going to do it on Shutdown Day as I’m going further, a Shutdown Week!

OK, time to come clean and admit it’s not going to be that difficult. It’s probably possible to be “connected” while cycling the South Island back country but certainly easier not to be!

It’s not really a green move, as I’m getting there by aircraft, but at least the tour company are green globe certified, carbon neutral and I will be the power source for some of the transport

UPDATE 02-03-2007: It was pointed out at work that I won’t actually be computer free and will be accessing a global network while cycling. Does using a handheld GPS violate “shutdown day” rules?Tags:
