Filing Submarino Chocolate Milk drink as 'Health Food'
And my "Kiwi Submarino" recipe
I'm happy to re-categorise the Submarino from 'Indulgence' to 'Health Food' thanks to this cycle magazine sports drink article:
"New research shows that simple chocolate milk is just as good, and sometimes even better, than those pricey sports drinks. It’s time to rethink your post ride routine."

I have also heard Dr Karl say the same, flavoured milk instead of overpriced protein powders etc after gym workouts. The study he cites in this article was done with women only, but he also has some advice for men.
"And it's long been known that taking in some high-quality protein soon after you pump iron will add a little extra muscle again.
But what kind of high-quality protein?
It turns out that half-a-litre of flavoured milk is good enough. Milk has protein to grow those muscles, while its sugars help replace the glycogen that came out of the muscle while you were working hard.
And here's the double whammy. These sugars also stimulate your pancreas into releasing insulin. The insulin helps amino acids get incorporated into your hard-working muscles as protein."

The Ushuaia Submarino
I will always remember the warmth of a lovely El Submarino with new friends in Ushuaia, after a cold wet disembarkation, as the real conclusion of my Antarctic adventure. Once home I adapted it to include a local ingredient:
My 'Kiwi' Submarino:
- Heat one mug normal (full fat) milk
- Add 3 or 4 squares* of Whittaker's Wellington Roasted Coffee Supreme dark chocolate**
- Stir until melted, drink!
* Keep another couple on hand to add (if want stronger) or eat with..."
** You can use any dark (which means 50%+ for me) chocolate but I like the hint of coffee this one adds.
