Ed Goldberg's latest ezine has some interesting comments on AU 2009 and the general state of the US AEC market. Down in NZ there seems to be a strange mixture: a feeling of impending doom yet most AEC people I know are still rather busy. Retail has been tough, although TWL seem better than most, and it's certainly a great time to buy a car, if not to sell a house.
I suspect AEC project lead times mean the impacts will be felt later in the year as the real estate "bubble" certainly has burst. Currently most people are still in summer holiday mode and they really have been getting a summer. The hot fine weather usually seen in Feb/March, when I prefer to holiday, is here now. I hope it lasts!

PS: Ed's ezine profile mentions his trademark hat. You have to go a long way to see him without it. In 2006 I met a hatless Ed in the middle of Hoover Dam! It was soon after AU2006 and, by chance, we happened to join the same dam tour tour of the dam :-)
