Dumb place for a stadium we probably don't need

The whole idea of a stadium is you sit looking in at the arena so why put one on prime land right on the Auckland waterfront?

I’ve seen no reports the current stadiums are overloaded, or even breaking even without subsidy from tax/rate-payers, so why do we even need it other than for the one-off Rugby World Cup?
