Before Richard Hammonds accident Top Gear was already controversial due to it’s “celebration of speed”. It seems the anti–Top Gear lobby are citing the accident as a reason to stop the show. This article by Jeremy Clarkson has rather more detail on the lead up to the incident and the presenters attitudes than any other I’ve seen. It also seems Richard is making remarkable progress with his recovery. It’s early days but this is really good news.
Anyway…
I was concerned they may pull it, but kudos to Prime TV (NZ) for continuing to screen the current series of Top Gear . That’s really good news as there are some stunning episodes yet to be seen in New Zealand.

Rubbish. Our producers spend their whole lives filling in health and safety forms and asking “are you sure?”
It’s the presenters who come up with the hare-brained ideas and trans-continental races . . . not the backroom boys or the suits.”
“Richard is winning his fight. And now mine begins. To make sure that he has a show to come back to.”
