I first read the announcement on Tenlinks and was surprised to see Autodesk are acquiring NavisWorks. I’ve seen a few NavisWorks demos, but had no hands on experience, and saw enough to know it’s a good addition to the Autodesk product mix. It will be interesting to see how a product that was known for it’s ability to merge many forms/formats of 3D data is treated as an Autodesk product. Will it remain as “open” to other formats and still be seen as “neutral” by both users & makers of competitive design products?
