After a rocky patch, TypePad rocks
TypePad, the blogging service that hosts this site, have recently suffered growing pains. Being popular isn’t always easy and they struggled to keep up with the growth in traffic. This resulted in performance problems, usually with the admin/authoring tools rather than visiting the blog.
Today I (all subscribers) received an email with an apology and compensation offer in the form of a 0, 15, 30 or 45 day extension to your subscription depending on the level of inconvenience suffered. What made it novel is they left it to the customer to decide what that level was.
Yep, after a rocky patch TypePad chose to trust their customers. How many companies are brave enough to do that?
As I post away from USA/Europe traffic peaks, mostly write off-line with BlogJet and never noticed any performance problems when visiting my site* so I chose 0 days. Just the offer was enough, as long as they have fixed it!
* It may seem odd to visit your own site but I often do as those links and other websites linked to in articles are often just there for me to use

One of the nice things about blogging is having a collection of reference, info and just “stuff you like” on-line for easy access from anywhere!
