Mind mapping is a powerful technique. Combine it with abilities of software like MindManager and its probably overwhelming the first time you see it. Nick Duffill has some great advice on how to introduce people to the concepts of Mind Mapping and its potential when combined with Mind Mapping software.
When I think about it his method of gradual exposure and building the map with the audience was exactly the way I was introduced to Mapping/MindManager. Hugh Bathurst used it to run, and document, a CAD conference I attended. He started with a simple outline map that grew in depth and complexity as the session progressed. Ideas from the audience were captured and it was a stunning, if unintentional, demo of mind mapping and MindManager.
