2025-26 Fitness: less and more

Taking a look back at 2025 fitness'wise I ended the year:

  • -3kg: monthly avg down from 74 to 71kg. I weigh daily but only track avg.
  • Walking a lot more: Up from 8.5k to 14k steps/day avg, and still cycling ~95km a week. Morning walk around Parrs Park, evening suburban (away from main roads) seeking more elevation.

Evening Walking Glengarry Ridge

Still doing my own thing at home with daily dumbbell/kettlebell weights & bands (aimed at fitness not bodybuilding, hate gyms). Feeling a bit stronger, more flexible. Was 'aerobic fit' from cycling and walking but upper body & torso/back feel better now.

Happier with the weight, fitness fine. Don't really feel that different but can happily hike 10-15km or ride 100km in hilly country without concern.

Sleep still a mess, but think that is just me:

  • I've averaged 5.75-6 hours/night for years, if go to bed earlier just wake up earlier.
  • Odd thing is—if you can believe the smart watch—other than duration sleep measures (Deep & REM Sleep, Restfulness & Latency) are 'Fair to Good' with an average with score of 63 (Samsung Health).
  • Maybe the duration thing is just 'how I am', it is certainly not new, or so embedded it won't shift much.

See what 2026 brings...
